Almost forgot my dear blog for quite sometime. Life changes a lot when your kid starts growing and you find a very little time for yourself. Many enjoyable, memorable incidents happended from the time I wrote my last blog and whenever I found time I would start scribbling about them. But unfortunately I did not find much time to post something. Lots of trips/vacations, parents and in-laws trip, new school for the kid, new job and many other new things arrived into my life. Lot of changes that my mind refused and still refusing to accept has been happening. Life cannot be 100% how you wish it to be, there will be always something you will be longing for. Thats the beauty of it.
Amidst the tight routine, the best time to relax was the train journeys to my office. Had a chance to read three books - 1.Copper Sun, 2. And then there were none, 3. 2 States
While I was reading ach of these books, I understood that I was too emotionally involved with them and my mood was very much determined by them.
Copper sun is a story about an African girl who gets caught by the slave traders and ends up in America bought by a rich landlord. After witnessing a very cruel murder, she escapes and finally finds her way to the Southern Spanish state where she is set free. Before reading this book, I dint have any idea about all the cruelties the slaves endured. When book moves through different feelings - insecutiry, love, unexpected help from strangers and the gratitude, the cruel punishments for the slaves and how much they were scared, the friendship with the white girl,, I kinda expressed the same feeling at home.
Especially the 'Gator Hunt' chapter, when a 3 year old kid is used as a bait for the gators, I felt so depressed. I understood that I should not get emotionally involved.
And then there were none - Good one. Fast paced murders. A friend gave a good review when I started readinig and I kept guessing the murderer to him. Every time he said 'yes, he is the killer, you guessed right, but keep reading and it will get more interesting at the end.'.Unexpectedly,that guess will be wrong and the killer will die in the next scene. Thanks to him for not breaking the suspense.
2 States - Lol....Wonderful narration. Chethan Bagat became my favourite writer when I finished a couple of chapters. I finished the whole book in a single day in the office. Could not stop reading and sometimes I could not help giggling in the office. Many times it reminded of my own life.
When I were in India couple of weeks before, I saw this book in my bro-in-law's bookshelf. I was explaining abt how much I enjoyed reading it. Last day just before I left, he gave me Chethan's '5 point someone'. Next in my queue... '5 point someone'.
